Why do most churches teach that satan has more power than scripture says he has?

So many churches attribute a great amount of power to satan,   Yet the scriptures say he has very limited power, why is This?

Because they are not students of Scripture and, more than likely, don't believe the BIble.

Very few people really know the doctrine of their church and as dianetrotter says they do not know Scripture.  This is why it is so important for Christians to know their Scripture.

      You are so right.
between the hirelings and the people who want someone else to do everything for them, we have seen Christianity cheapened because  sadly most people do not know the difference between Chrisitanity and churchianity

    Celafoe,
I do not know any attribute of satan. I reckon and I am told to watch out for him. One time I wanted to blame something on him. I walked into a hornets nest of whacko hell and brimstone Westboro types, but I saw insanity not satan.

I will just bet that some day he comes a slithering and slimy my way. No power lest I have depravity in my heart. I just figure, "bring it on, bad boy", if I fail, bummer. But I do not think the big guy will let me fail, so again I say "bring it on bad boy".

This dude has power like a junk yard dog or a school yard bully -- whatever we give him, and I ain't about to give him nothin.

Some preacher man going to tell me that satan has a hold on me, --- well let me knock the dirt from my sandals and cruise on, to the next wonderful meadow where I can cleanse my soul.

Enhancement of Life versus The Power of Death (or at least the threat of it).
The latter gives power to numerous organisations, religious, insurance, medical, political, military.   Take away Fear of Death and the religion loses it's life.  IMHO

Because fear is an amazing weapons and can be used to bend people to whatever will a person deems appropriate, God or otherwise.  So is Satan not scaring anybody?  Make him more powerful until he does.

celafoe- I have to agree with duffsmom and dianetrotter on this. We as christians don't realize the power and authority we have through Jesus Christ to rebuke anything and everything satan does to us. We need to use the authority and power through Christ and in doing so this world would be a better place. As dianetrotter said so well "they are not student of scripture, and more likely, don't believe in the bible." And I very much agree with her on this point.. Each of us should pick up the word of God, for ourselves and learn through study about the power and authority we have through Christ.

Great question celafore, keep em coming. God bless.

It's   not the " churches" as much as hired employees pleasing their bosses to keep membership coming back. Any anointed child of God will promote the kingdom of God , " preaching good news of the kingdom" with signs nd miracles following. That  would be only time to mention the name satan/ devil/ demons as they're cast out and their work being  destroyed. Sadly, unbelievers in the TRUTH, by their choice are accepting tradition of man- made " christianism," believing Satan's  lies since his first lie in the Garden.
Yes, the Word says that Satan's power is lesser than any redeemed , authorized to use THE NAME-follower/ disciple of Yehoshua , even withou " membership ".

yes and most churches are controlled by  these hirelings that call themselves pastors.   If they would preach James 1 12-14  and other truths it might offend the paying crowd.  Personal responsibility is not a popular subject these days.
