Convince me of your God - here's your chance!

Regardless of whether your God is the Christian Yahweh, the smiling Buddha, or a number of the many thousands I cannot mention here. I'd like to be convinced of your God - here is an opportunity to practice your conversion speech - perfect it. Yes, I'm non-religious, but I'm curious as to how many would go about convincing someone such as myself of their God. I ask this because much of the behaviour I have seen of people here is turning more away from faith than bringing to - I'd like to make you think about the way you are approaching things, and a chance to test it out. Have fun, play nice

i'm an atheist now, but in my christian days, these were some of the arguments:

there has to be an uncaused cause. it's god.

    the wonder of nature.

nature doesn't give desires it can't fulfill. since we desire eternal life, there must be one.

i know god is real because i feel his presence and he answers my prayers.

i was raised to believe in miracles. as a doctor, i saw not one person who prayed healed. also, i was practicing evangelizing with fellow christians. i took the role of skeptic to let them practice. as skeptic, i won the debates without wanting to.

I see...it would have been a shock, given you weren't looking to leave the faith

Why can't you just "believe"? God is the answer to every question, every prayer, every illness or injury, every disobedient child, every drunken punishment by your parents, every war, every peace, every hate, every love.
Unless, Satan is the answer, which covers everything that God doesn't cover. He is the great deceiver too, so even if you think it's god, it's really the devil leading you astray.
God is the bringer of light. Also the creator of the entire universe, because he lived in darkness before he existed. Wait, no, that's not right, because God always existed. Silly me. That's the number one reason we worship him.
Don't you want to live forever? Don't you want to go to heaven? Don't you want to be "saved" from yourself (or god's condemnations)? It doesn't have to make sense, just go with it. You don't want to burn in a lake of fire forever, do you?

false dichotomy. it's not just god or satan. perhaps it's nothing. how can i not believe in your god? the same way you don't believe in thor.

Cathy, you are preaching to the choir. I am being facetious, as I am an atheist.

Austin - thanks...I smiled reading that, knowing you as I do from here. Cathylynn - it would have been easy to miss if you didn't know Austin was an atheist already.

I'm glad I could make you smile, Jacqui. I often get a guffaw out of reading the posts of some fundies.

I've had the grins recently reading a conversation between 3 of the more vocal believers here - even they couldn't agree on who was right about God! I'm just tired of the aggressive stance - I wanted to give an equal platform so I asked this!

You seem to be having too much fun on that hub, J! Here's a big 'ol {{{hug}}} for all the patience you have with them. I'm too freakin old to keep putting up with it myself.
