Ecclesiastes 7:20 KJV
"For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not."
I personally am not sure if David ever existed. However if he did I guess his story just proves men can do good and bad things.
Rarely if ever has there been anyone who is without flaws.
Martin Luther King is considered a great man by many and it's been reported he had affairs while being a married minister.
Does it negate all his accomplishments in seeking civil rights?
Although David was "mere man" and "fell short" several times, God said in Acts 13:22 "...I have found David, the son of Jesse, A MAN AFTER MINE OWN HEART, who shall fulfill MY WILL."
You see believers, God DOES NOT "look" at us as "mere man" does! He looks at the "HEART!" (I Samuel 16:7)
When chosen by God, one may look like a "jackass" (Numbers 22:28) to "mere man," but if chosen (after "seeing" one's heart) by God for HIS WILL, one is a "good man" in the sight of the Lord!
Did David not "suffer" for his sins? So shall we but with confession and repentance by "His Grace," we shall be saved!

Depressive disorders have been with us since the beginning of recorded history. In the Bible, King David, and Job, suffered from this affliction. In the Book of Psalms you get the idea through David's writing that he suffered much affliction also many praises and victories.
