Does anyone know why God Said this when Ishmael was also Abraham's son?
“Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here am I.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”
Probably because Isaac was the son that was promised by God to Abraham and his wife Sarah. It was through Isaac and his heirs, particularly his son Jacob (whose name would be changed to Israel), and one of Jacob's sons Joseph, that the saga of Abraham and the book of Genesis would continue. God told Abraham that Ishmael would have many offspring of his own. But Ishmael was not be part of the big picture.
Ishmael was his illegitimate fruit, conceived against the will of God. Fruit of Abraham not trusting God as God had already promised him a son through his wife Sarah. God let him have his way and he paid for his unbelief with the grief Ishmael gave him.
An illegitimate. offspring has NO STANDING in the family. He is an outcast, no family, no inheritance or familial benefits.
Isaac as His legitimate first born son was His ONLY son in Gods eyes and therefore entitled to all the benefits thereof.

Why did Abraham banish Ishmael (Genesis 21:14)?Jacob's sons even though they are born through the maid servants of Leah and Rachel got the right to be called Jacob's sons and become the patriarchs. Then why did Ishmael refused to inherit the blessings promised to Abraham?

I was just thinking to myself last night: does anyone actually believe in a god or anything like that? I know The Pope is an atheist in religious disguise, but there must be SOMEONE out there who actually believes in a god or creator of the universe. I would like to know those people and share in...
