Quran Burning Cancelled

"Pastor Terry Jones announced Thursday at a chaotic news conference that he decided to cancel his protest, claiming that he struck a deal with the leader of a planned Islamic Center near Ground Zero who agreed to move its controversial location.

However, Imam Rauf, the leader of the proposed center did not make a deal and has never talked to Pastor Terry Jones, Park51 officials tell Huffington Post, adding that they are open to all solutions and that the proposed Islamic center is open to dialogue and reconciliation with the community in lower Manhattan."

I like the whole "...claiming that he struck a deal with the leader of...Islamic Center near Ground Zero who agreed to move it's...location..." and then "...the leader of the proposed center did not make a deal and has never talked to Pastor Terry Jones..." That's hilarious. I don't think there's middle schoolers dumb enough to make a lie like that at a press conference.  Did he not think Imam Rauf wouldn't be like "Wtf we never made a deal"?

Also, to those who are all up in arms about the Islamic Center: "...they are open to all solutions and that the proposed Islamic center is open to dialogue and reconciliation with the community in lower Manhattan."  It looks like your voices are being hear that you're unhappy, but no one is providing a solution.  Should get your lazy butts up to Manhattan and talk to them your selves instead of complaining on THE INTERNET.

        That sounds reasonable to me.

25% more than what they paid for it, looks like the Muslims can benefit hugely from this!

And they've got bigger offers, it says.

They would be crazy not to take a deal like that.

Imagine all the spreading of Islam they could do with that kind of money.

That preacher just wanted free publicity. I don't think he ever intended to burn the quran. He knew better! But being as opiniated as he is, I'm sure he would love to add more think-alike followers to his congregation.

20 out of the 50 in his congregation left because of this, as of a few days ago.  Maybe more since then.

But I agree that it was for publicity.  I posted a thread about it and why I think that way.

I dunno, I'm guessing it got out of hand, I'm sure he was hoping to get all the people around his area fired up (pun intended) but I don't think he thought it would get as big as it did. When it when it started getting out of had he backed down.

It would have been a non-issue had the news organizations been more responsible.  If the media had been behaving responsibly, they may as well have been burning phone books.

and the world is stuck with it all over the news for a week.
      Damage done as usual.

The press take a lunatic from a church of 50 and give him 10 million dollars worth of air-time. Yeh! That makes sense! lol

Maybe, he didn't expect to get the worldwide attention he received, but he most certainly did get his message across which has now resonated throughout the world.

Even if this one nutjob calls off the burning, I expect there will be copy-cats who hold their own with no advanced warning and post them on you-tube.

You might even see some hubs that include these.

    Think of the traffic!!
