Which of the twobranches of Ahmadie are you speaking.  One believes him to be a Nabi, and so cannot be Muslim.

The other, as I understand it believes him to have been a reformer within Islam, and so might be considered Muslim.

Either branch is still iffy, since the clear history of Ahmad himself leaves little doubt that he claimed to be a Nabi (Prophet) and mostly was an imatator of the Persian Baha'u'llah, including his wording Baha'u'llah styled Himself the Supreme Pen, Ahmad styled himslef the Supreme Writer.  But in the case of Baha'u'llah who made his claims prior to Ahamd as a Prophet, his followers make no bones about the fact they they are not Muslim, but an independant religion whose take on the phrase "seal of hte Prophets" used by Muhammad does not mean their will no longer be prophets, only that he ended a cycle of prophecy pointing to the Day of God, while the prophets who come after Muhamamd fullfill those prophecies.
