Do you believe women tennis players deserve equal pay with the men

Ordinarily, I believe women deserve equivalent pay to the men for their participation in professional sports. I disagree with equal pay in tennis, however. My reasons are simple. In most major tournaments & all 4 Grand Slams, the men must play the best of 5 grueling sets - every match - throughout the tournament. The women need only play the best of 3 sets. Back when Everett & Navratilova competed, they tried a best of 5 format. They couldn't handle it. I don't think my reasoning is sexist, just an objective rationalization.

I love to watch women's tennis. The matches can be very competitive and exciting. But they don't work as hard as the men. Some matches you cannot leave the room for a snack for fear it will over by the time you get back.

I imagine money earned by the organizers of the tournament should play into what payout cut the players receive.

That's a valid pt. I don't recall names, but recently a male tennis player ranked maybe in top 50 criticized equal pay. A top 5 female player responded by saying, "they come & pay to watch me, not you."
