Ryan Giggs played for Wales, but he played in the English League. He played Schoolboy football for England but that was only because he was living in Salfords, Manchester at the time. I personally believe Wales have some great talent coming through with the likes of Bale and Ramsey and may make a shock appearance at the next World Cup.
On present form it will be a very very long time which is why Rugby is much more of a priority to many a welshmen
Bale and Ramsay have talent however they won't take them to a European Championship or World Cup without quality around them and realistically Craig Bellamy is the only outstanding player Wales have.
Bale and Ramsay are developing however where is the rest of the quality?
Ryan Giggs hung up his international boots years ago to concentrate on Manchester United which showed his complete lack of commitment to the Welsh team.
I can't help but think it's only a matter of time. Regardless of current form the welsh are a nation passionate about sport.
Having Cardiff and Swansea in the prem more often with better academies with better scouting around Wales and perhaps some of the lower league sides being higher up the divisional table with better academy facilities. Give it twenty years in that situation, with no players allowed to play for England and it could result in a decent crop.
