How can Londoners Survive the Summer Olympics 2012?

Let's be honest. The transport system won't be able to cope with both commuters AND the tourists, one will have to give!
I've heard of companies giving their employees laptops so they can work from home during the Olympics, and many people are planning to take their holidays during the Olympics so they won't have to commute into work. What are your best tips for surviving the Olympics in London 2012? yikes)

they made the very same predictions about the Sydney Olympics of which i was a intimate part of.  I was a T1 Driver.  Things went incredibly smoothly.  Everyone cooperated including the authorities.  Public transport in inner Sydney was free and more frequent so you could hop from one bus ferry or train to another.  Dedicated lanes were used for Olympic vehicles including mine.  Generally people stayed off the road with cars; And watched the Games on TV or at the event venues.
