Do you go fishing? Do you eat what you catch?

Do you go fishing? Do you eat what you catch?

At this time of year I just love to catch big catfish out of the local rivers and I turn them into delicious deep fried catfish nuggets. With homemade slaw, home fries, and my delicious homemade hush-puppies you have a meal you won't soon forget.

Sometimes, it just depends on what I am fishing for at the time and if I feel like having some fish for dinner that week.  I am not one for killing everything I catch and filling the freezer with meat, but I do enjoy taking a fish occasionally and enjoying a good meal.  Generally when I go catch fish in the salt I am more likely to keep a fish or two versus when freshwater fishing just because I prefer to eat saltwater fish over freshwater.  I am an avid bass fisherman and I prefer to release every bass I catch and so the majority of the fish I catch I let go.

I would also say that it depends on what I am fishing for.  Last year I went to Blue Mesa Reservoir and kept quite a few salmon.  We vacuum packed most of them so that they wouldn't spoil in the freezer.  Since we have plenty of salmon for awhile, I haven't been keeping any of the fish that I catch in the meantime.

I love fishing in the back lakes of Ontario, Canada.  I do eat what I catch.  I fish for bass, trout, crappie, whitefish and salmon.
