What is the best running shoe for middle distance (5K, 10K)?

My favourite has been Aasics gel nimbus. Do you prefer Nike, New Balance, or something else?

I am a Saucony fan forever! I can't explain it.  It is just right for me.

I was running in Nike Zoom Elite, which were great for around 5-7 kms, but just got a pair of the Nike Zoom Vomero+7, which have the most amazing cushioning and I was able to run 12km (first time ever) without knee pain.  I have to admit though, I love Nike, so I can't compare to other brands, only to other Nike's that I've had.

I run in my Brooks Ghost 4.  I used to run in the Saucony Jazz forever, until I got fitted at a local running store.  They looked at my stride and gave me a few shoes to try on.  Then they asked me a lot of questions about how each fit until I found the right pair.  Loving the Ghost ever since.

I've tried a lot of different shoes without much luck, including Nike, Reebok, New Balance. I finally tried Asics and have been buying them ever since. I run a lot so I go through shoes quickly and I have been happy with every pair I've had. They've been the best for my arches and fit my narrow feet nicely.

I love Aasics too. They just fit so well and feel so light. My feet are tiny, so maybe they're the go-to brand for small/narrow feet.

Barefoot...or vibrams! But that is my personal preference. After years of shin, knee and ankle problems, I realized it was steaming from my shoes. I started barefoot running and have never looked back. No more pain. No more rolled ankles. I enjoy running more now than I ever had, and feel more connected with the Earth, it seems weird to say, but it's true.
