Is the NFL currently evolving into an option quarterback league?
billypetty22, I think not. Just look at what happened to RG III and the scare Cam Newton had at the end of the season. Colin Kapernick escaped injury this past season while he racked up the yards. Michael Vick tried it and was hurt a few times over his career. I don't think that, in the end, the NFL owners want to risk their millions and 1st round draft picks on running quarterbacks in that way.
Option quarterbacks are going to have to win some Super Bowls, and that hasn't happened lately.
Defensive coordinators are going to figure out ways to better deal with option quarterbacks. We saw some of that with how the Ravens defensed Kaepernick.
If the defense plays it correctly, it's a regular hand off with the outside defender out of the play guarding the quarterback. The running game becomes easier.
The only downside is if your quarterback who won't slide. Russell Wilson has no problem sliding.
If it remains a pivotal part of the best offenses and defenses continue to struggle with it, then yes, more and more teams will implement it.

Do you think Peyton Manning is the best quarterback currently in the NFL? If so, why? If not,...why the heck not?

Thought this was a great review of NFL quarterbacks.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview09 … id=4436281The only thing I disagree with is about guys with rings. Big Ben is in the second best group of QBs.

Was Joe Namath with the San Francisco 49ers the greatest quarterback of all time? There have been many great quarterbacks, but Joe Namath was an eagle eye with a deadly aim and a scrambler. Was he the greatest quarterback or was someone else better?

Will Tim Tebow ever return to NFL as a quarterback? The word is no team wants him.He was let go by Denver, New York Jets, and recently New England. Hopefully, he won't be a Heisman Trophy winner that nobody wants.
