Wayne holds a myriad of NHL records and for a significant number of the records he accumulated such significant numbers that there is no way in H -E- double hockey sticks they will be broken. One significant factor that Wayne possesses that is not well known was his ability to continually improve his game-level. When I played against him many years ago when he played for the city of Brantford he was dominant yet no more dominant than he was at the NHL level. He was able to elevate his game at all skill levels... There is no doubt he was the one player (so far) that was able to break most records in NHL history; that most logically makes a significant argument that not only was he one of the best, indeed he was the best (so far).

We have a celebrity here.  John, did not know you played against Gretzky.  What year?  This is fantastic indeed.  I learn something new each day.  This is great!  Love the Hubpages Community.....such interesting people.

In Bantam either in 1973 or 1974 we played Brantford. Their captain was Wayne. We beat them 6-3 and went on to the All -Ontario, Canada Finals only to be defeated by the City of Oakville Rangers... No one ever remembers the 2nd place team though...

This is indeed interesting.  You are truly a renaissance man par excellence.  You are intellectual and an athlete.  What other talents do you have Dr. Connor?

None other than being a "Lucky One." I have been happily married to Kate for 31 years and have 3 amazing brats and 2 grand brats. Well I did die and come back...
