What do you do to make your feet and toes ready for summer sandals and shoes?
I perform pedicure regularly so that my feet look clean and shiny.
I start avoiding restricting shoes (eg. Converse All-Star sneakers) that hamper toe movement and sometimes creates an unsightly appearance in the outermost toes and nails.
I also exfoliate and moisturize the feet more regularly. Going without socks/hosiery and exposing the feet to fresh air also helps. I also ensure I avoid walking around the house with bare feet as that seems to harden the heels. And of course, semi-regular pedicures are always nice for that polishing touch.
I am not a pedicure person, so...months before the summer is when any foot preparation begins. Step 1: Cut my toenails on a straight edge. My hairdressing aunt told me this to help avoid ingrown toenails. Step 2: Keep my feet moisturized (this is kind of an all year thing). Step 3: Continue with step 1 and 2.
If I was into nail polish, then I'd apply that closer to the time I was going to go sockless.

Shoes or sandals? When I'm not at work, I wear sandals almost everywhere at all times of the year, unless an event calls for something else. I just like my feet being able to breathe. Which do you prefer?
