Does a parent need to take a 14 year old to get a Labret piercing?

My mother takes care of my niece who is 14 and wants to get her lebret (right below the lip) pierced. My mom (her legal guardian) said it was alright but I had to take her. Me being her aunt, and 23, would I be able to take her without my mother present? I'm not quite sure how it works for minor piercings. I had my belly done when I was 16, only my cousins mom signed for me.

Technically speaking, I believe you have to be the child's legal guardian. However, the particular piercing shop you go to might not enforce that. Your best bet is to call some shops, explain the situation and see what they tell you.

It's okay, but why do you think that lebret will be appropriate for 14-year-old girl?
