Is chewing gum bad for you?
know it is supposed to be good for your teeth, but I usually get dry throat from chewing it after a while...
Unfortunately, yes. There are just as many, if not more, additives in gum as there are in other commercially-prepared foods. Read the label.
Chewing gum can be good for certain people, like dieters or people trying to quit smoking. However, most gums contain aspartame, which literally is a mild poison. Also, gum can make you bloat because you are swallowing so much air. Sugary gum is also (obviously) bad for your teeth. I'd pass it up.
Sorbitol is a sweetener found in sugar-free gums. Sorbitol can give us gas. It is so agonizing to have gas trapped and I have to burp it ALL out. Though I also get my throat irritated after using some mouthwash, I find it much better to brush, then floss or have an icy-hot menthol candy instead. I got rid of the bad and annoying gum habit.
