Do you have a tattoo that no one understands?
Do you have a tattoo that often prompts people to ask and tell you, "what the hell did you do that for? You're going to regret that later." But in reality it has unexplainable, extensive meaning to you, that only you and you alone will ever fully know and understand. I know I do.
My misunderstood tattoo is my robot tattoo on my left butt cheek. His name is Bobby the Butt Bot and no one will ever get it, but I will never regret it.
Are these random strangers asking you? What do you do in your life that you wind up walking around without pants on?
I have the entire upper third of my body tattooed rather solidly (I'm covered from the elbows up). I actually get a lot of compliments on my ink, from strangers in public, when I wear clothing that shows some of it. My favorite is when it's from 80-yr-old ladies. When I was in my 20s, I got some flack about being tattooed, but now that I've been tattooed for over two decades, I almost never do. People rarely ask what individual tattoos mean, and if something doesn't have a meaning I can explain or is personal, I just tell them that, and no one seems to have a problem accepting that as the answer.
LOL. I surely do not walk around pantless, but he does stick out from time to time, usually on the beach when I'm in my bikini. Plus I am not shy about telling people and showing when they ask to see it. That is to close friends and family of course
Yes. They can look at my tattoo and say, "that looks horrible. who did that?", "why do you have that?". The answer is for me and me alone. A tattoo is to let me remember a piece of my past, not for them to comment on. It is a piece of me that I love and want to have for life.
I'm curious to learn of why Bobby is your Butt Bot.
When I was a freshman in college I went through a really rough patch in my life. I got a robot tattoo to remind me of that time. He helped pull me out of my rut, and continue to makes me smile. It's complicated to explain the meaning it has to me
I'm glad you found something to help you along the way and will always carry him with you like a best friend to confide in.
No I don't have any such tattoo and won't have either especially when nobody can understand that. There is no point getting you body pierced when the other person has to ask, "what is this? It looks like a tatoo but what is it exactly?"
I have two tattoos that my fiance did on me, a star that didn't come out too straight or symmetrical and then a few ivy leaves going down my thigh which I won't let him continue because... well it's just a complete mess lol. I guess that's what I get for having him practice on me. I'll get it fixed one day, I hope.
well I have quite a few tattoos and no one understands why I have them

Why do people get tattoos? How do they know what they will like in twenty, thirty, forty years?

Can anyone explain to me why tattoos are so popular?Maybe I'm from a completely different era (I just turned 51), but can anyone explain to me why everyone and their mother has to get a crappy tattoo and show it off to everyone these days? I don't think of myself as a prude-- I'm a punk rock...

What is it with so many otherwise sane people marking up their bodies with tattoos? I don't get it.Tattoos are permanent. Years from now you may not want what you want now. What's the deal with that?

Which hurts worse, getting a tattoo or waxing your body?People have different thresholds for several types of pain. I'm hoping this question starts an interesting dialog about pain.

Do you regret your Tattoo or do you still like it years later?
