Have you ever had a REALLY bad haircut?

Have you ever been really unhappy on your way home from the salon or barbershop? What did you do?

A couple years ago, I went to a salon and asked for an inverted bob. I came out with almost no hair on the back of my head (I could easily touch my skull and I think my brain felt a draft) and really long hairs up front. It was like a reverse mullet. I went home and cut off the hair which left me with a really short boy haircut (which I didn't mind, but it wasn't what I wanted).

I haven't gotten my hair cut since then...now it's almost down to my waist. It's usually like 90% bad haircuts and 10% okay hair cuts from a salon so I don't know why I expected it to be awesome, lol.

Geez, a reverse mullet does not sound attractive at all. My hair was long, like yours, for my whole life until about two years ago. I still don't know how I feel about salons...

Oh, yes. A very bolshy young stylist insisted on doing things her way, saying the style I requested "wasn't a style at all, it was just a haircut." What? Then she did the opposite of my request, shortening the bits I'd wanted longer, and generally made a pigs ear of things. By the end of the cut, she'd gone very quiet and couldn't look me in the eye. I was too upset to say anything, can't believe I actually paid up - no tip, mind. It was a long time ago, I wouldn't let anyone do that these days.

That sounds awful! At least you know how to tell the hairdresser what you want nowadays. Hopefully, that woman learned to listen a little better, it sure sounds like she knew she didn't do a very good job.

I used to own a fairly large full service salon. I personally didn't perform any services but was a hands on owner. I had hair, nails, facials, waxing, limited body piercing (ears, nails for gemstones and belly buttons), a licensed massage therapist and tanning beds. The hairdressers that worked for me had an inside joke. They used to say the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is two weeks. I try to remember that philosophy when I get an occasional bad cut today.

I like that a lot! They were definitely right, hair does grow back. It's still a little shocking to look in the mirror and be really unhappy about what you see, but I like the idea of treating it as a lighthearted joke!
