    I believe it is because these people are fans of asymmetry. My theory at least. :-)

    Using this pattern when doing your nails is called an "accent nail" its been a trend for a while now. Its just like having polka dots or cheetah print on your nail but using 2 base colors is a much more simpler way of showing off that pop of color.

      Thanks this clears it up. So it is pretty much a fashion statement. I had heard theories about what it meant, like nail polish is sooo deep, right!
