Macally BookStand iPad Case Protection from Scratches and Scuffs

Updated on October 8, 2015

Sometimes simple is best. The Macally iPad BookStand Protective iPad Case is not complicated. It holds the iPad securely; it covers the screen when closed and exposes it completely when opened. Using the iPad in a Macally BookStand Case is much like using the iPad without a case. It is lightweight while being protective. The iPad is completely useable with all ports and buttons free of any encumbrances. There is one fabric available – which is suede-like and there are two basic colors available – gray and black. Use it on a desk or table or on your lap.

The Macally BookStand iPad Case is designed to be nearly the same size as the iPad. Small plastic corners snug around the iPad and hold it in place within the Macally BookStand. The Ipad is secure; however, if you want to remove the Macally case it is easy to do. The screen edges of the iPad are not covered in anyway. The entire screen is left open with nothing wrapping up and around it to take away from its usability and its beauty. When the top flap is closed it does not hang over the sides of the iPad. That is preferable because the edges will get less adverse wear when carried daily in a bag. The Macally Bookstand iPad case’s closure is a contrasting tan leather-like tab that wraps from the front cover to the back cover where it slips into a small pocket. I know, it seems a bit backwards but it makes total sense when you see it in the stand position.

The leather-like tab mentioned before has a second purpose. I have not mentioned one of the best aspects of the Macally Ipad Case. The top flap folds completely flat against the backside of the iPad. This is special because it allows you to hold the iPad in a natural position. The top flap also bends into a sort of triangle shape forming an iPad stand (approximately 2 inches high). The leather-like tab tucks into the small pocket on the back flap forming a secure structure. Stand it up to view the iPad in a landscape position. Lay it back and it forms a typing stand.

The Macally BookStand does not add bulk to the iPad. It can be left on the iPad when used by an iPad stand such as the Elago P2, the Macessity NX or the Thought Out Stabile. Charging the iPad can be accomplished while inside the Macally BookStand. It feels soft to the touch which is a nice effect – however, any fabric with a nap is likely to attract lint and can become soiled easier. The color chosen may depend on that fact. I believe that the simplicity of the Macally BookStand Protective Ipad Case is its biggest attraction.
