New Trent External Battery Pack for iPad-iPhone and multiple other Devices

Updated on March 9, 2011

Gain 70 extra hours on an iPhone and an extra 30 hours on an iPad!

While planning my upcoming trip to the 2011 CES I realized that I may need some extra charging power for my iPad 3G and my iPhone 4. Travel time will extend over 6 hours and I am sure that I will use quite a bit of battery life from both devices while watching television via my SlingBox App, checking my email and catching up on my blog posts. On another note, I will feel more comfortable recharging the Trent External Battery Pack without a surge protector than I would my electronic devices.

Depending on the model – New Trent claims that their External Battery Packs can provide up to 70 extra hours on an iPhone and up to an extra 30 hours on an iPad. The two models that I am concentrating on here are the Trent IMP880 8900 mAH and the Trent IMP1000 11000 mAH. Each weighs less than 10 ounces and measure approximately 4.3 inches x 2.5 inches x .08 inches. There is a 6 month warranty included for both Trent External Battery Pack models.

The need and usefulness of an external battery pack is obvious. However, there are several other reasons to consider taking them along on your next trip or to have in one in your bag for daily use. First of all, if you have an iPhone and an iPad only one charger is necessary. Carrying individual charging cables adds to the clutter of your bag. It also provides more opportunities to lose the charging cables. If you forget the cables at work and need them at home you are out of luck. Other family members have multiple electronic gadgets that also need charging. By using the Trent External Battery Pack you can leave more open plugs for them.

So far I have mentioned that the Trent External Battery packs charge both the iPad and iPhone 4. Other devices are compatible as well. The Trent IMP 8900 provides charging tips for the iPad, the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3G, the iPod Touch 1,2 and 3G, the Motorola Droid, HTC Android cell phones, the Blackberry Curve, the Blackberry Bold, the Blackberry Tour and the Blackberry Storm. The IMP1000 provides charging tips for the iPad, the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3G, the iPod Touch 1,2 and 3G, the Motorola Droid X Eris, the HTC EVO Android cell phones, the Blackberry Curve, the Blackberry Bold, the Blackberry Tour and the Blackberry Storm.

Trent External Battery packs can also power up the Sony PSP, the Amazon Kindle, the Nintendo DS and the Game Boy – the catch is – you have to purchase the charging tips separately directly from NewTrent. Even so, the usefulness of carrying an external battery pack is extended for the entire family.

There are so many things that I like about the Trent External Battery Pack. I like the versatility, the extreme amount of time that can be gained on a single charge and the fact that I can use my device while it is charging. The USB retractable cable that is included in the package is compact and very handy to use. The Trent External Battery Pack IMP1000 also includes the AC adapter in the box. The price for the IMP880 is approximately $66 and the price for the IMP1000 is approximately $85. I think that the price of either model is worth the convenience gained by not having to chase down an electrical outlet.
