Updated on November 13, 2012

LG Optimus One Update

LG Optimus One P500 is low cost popular Android device. There is no chance of any official LG Optimus One ICS update for such a low end device but do not worry there are other ways too. You can update LG Optimus One to Android ICS by just following this step by step tutorial.

Yes, you have guessed it right. This update of your phone will be done using custom ROM. LG Optimus one update with ICS is not that tough. See the process.

Be Careful about these:

Before jump starting the process of upgrading Optimus One to Android ICS you should read these carefully:

i) Do not do it alone if you are a complete novice in this type of work. Try to seek help from an expert and experienced friend to be in the 100% safe side.

ii) This process may not be successful each and every type in every device.

iii) Though the relative risk is too low the author or the site will not be responsible to any damage to your device or data loss.

iv) Keep your Optimus One’s battery as charged as possible. A minimum of 60% is a must for safety.

v) This ROM is in beta stage and so there may be some slight bugs.

vi) The camera may not work after the update.

vii) This ICS on Optimus One is not the official version and so a bit or two minor bugs may be existed.

a) A well charged LG Optimus Black P500 Mobile.

b) A PC (or Laptop/Netbook)

c) An USB Cable

Primary Stage:

1) Your Mobile must be rooted. If it is not rooted then read how to do it from here.

2) Custom Recovery must be installed on your phone.

3) Now you need the CM9 ROM file to be downloaded to your PC.

4) You should have to download gapps to get Market (Google Play) and other necessary built in apps.

Main Stage:

Now it is the time for main actions:

i) Connect your LG P500 with the PC using an USB cable.

ii) Transfer the downloaded CM9 ROM file from PC to the root of mobiles SD card.

iii) Now disconnect the device.

iv) Switch it off.

v) While switching on hold HOME-VOLUME DOWN and POWER these three buttons simultaneously to boot into the recovery mode.

vi) Now select Backup/Restore to do a NAND backup.

Backup all files for safe keeping. You can restore your mobile to previous state using this NAND backup

This is to last stage of the ICS update to LG Optimus P500:

a) Go back to Recovery mode main menu.

b) Select Wipe data/ factory reset.

c) Now select Wipe Cache.

e) After this cleaning you should do the installing. Select Install Zip from SD card and find out CM9 ROM file.

f) Start installation and wait for some time. This ICS ROM installation process will take some time.
