Hello fellow hubbers. I've been busy lately following people on Twitter hoping to gain followers for my marketing efforts. But I'm wondering if Twitter can help increase my page views. I doubt if my followers will ever click on the links I post. I wonder the same thing about Facebook. Any tip from you will be appreciated. Thanks.
Explore the social media site. Learn what kinds of links are so amazing and interesting and useful that people follow them. Why? What's so great about those things? Get a sense of the kind of topics and shares that do well in that community.
Then figure out what things you know, do, or can share that are so amazing that people will WANT to follow them.
On Pinterest, for example, people love amazing images, whereas on Twitter, people love Tweets about intereresting news, trending topics, or things which are useful to them.
Also, participate in the social community as a member. People are much more likely to respond favorably to you if you're interacting with other members, responding to things on the site, and acting like a part of the community than if you just drop links to your own stuff. People don't like feeling like they're just being exploited to boost someone's traffic numbers... And yes, they can tell!
Post on Twitter and use # Hash Tags. (but build a rapport with people to get double the views)
Post on Facebook - Hubpages have a lot of groups on Facebook. Post in groups / post on your profile.
Pintarest works too. I didn't know that worked until I noticed one of my articles had been pinned 250 times. I only joined Pintarest a month ago.
Post relevant hub topics on Linked in. There are at least 30 other ways but I will limit it to Social Media as you requested.

Reading through the replies here, it seems this question has been answered thoroughly and quite thoughtfully.
I do have small trick to add on to what's been said about Twitter, though.
You mentioned that you've been adding Twitter followers in the hopes of connecting with them and getting a follow back... But this only works well if you do it smart.
To be sure that your follows will not only follow you back, but also click on your links, you'll need to use the search function to find people who are talking about or interested in the topics that you cover. So if one of your main topics is software, look for people (not companies or brands, mind you) who are using hashtags like #apps, #dev, #geek, #tech and the like.
This is pretty much the extent to which I go to when marketing my work on twitter, other than directly connecting with people by sending tweets, etc.
What about tips on effective writing? What would be the right hashtag? Thanks. Where should I go to find the appropriate hashtags?
Well, there are no rules to this, so just search tags you think writers would use. #writing #writer #words #language #english #communication - stuff like that. You can then see who has been using those words recently, preview their profile briefly, and follow them if you think they'd be interested in your articles.
Oh and nice hub there, some very good tips!
Thanks for reading this hub. I love your tip. I'll give it a shot.
Sergs, As requested, see link below that gives you 101 Ways to get traffic to your articles / websites

Your question about LinkedIn. LinkedIn is used mostly by professionals. So you can post links that relate to your profession, especially in groups you belong to. E.g I post a lot of Teaching stuff in Education groups, as well as friends in LinkedIn.
Twitter and Facebook are more effective though. You can even schedule your tweets if you want.
The article will reveal a lot more. G/Luck.
P/s copy link incase it gets deleted.
This discussion has been very useful to me since i am working in digital marketing. Posting in relevant linked in groups is a really good suggestion to get targeted traffic. I think Pinterest makes sense depending on the content of your hubs. I am starting to write on digital marketing mainly so I guess targeting groups with professionals in this stream makes sense for me. Its also worth trying other blogs which have similar content.
Most likely your Facebook friends are people you know. Therefore, you can post your link and message about your hub page on your feed. Even better make it personal … try these steps:
1. Start by sending a message out to your closest friends and working your way out
2. Inform them that you have started to write on Hub Pages about topics that interest you and can help others – give them an example
3. Provide a link to your hub page and request that they visit your page and vote if your content is useful, funny, etc.

I joined up with Hubpages a week ago, originally just to build links to a website I started 2 months ago. Now I'm enjoying Hubpages and the freedom to write about other topics that interest me and have adsense and amazon earnings as well.As for promoting websites, I haven't used Facebook or Twitter...
