Duplicate means that Hubpages has found an article or articles on the web that contains similar or identical content.  Hubpages does not check to see if the article found was originally yours or someone else's.  You could try contacting Hubpages about this; but, they don't seem to willing to discuss why they have labelled something as a Duplicate.

It is classified as duplicate because it appears elsewhere on the web, no matter who wrote it.

HubPages rewards fresh, new content. If you have posted the same article elsewhere then it is in fact a duplication. There's actually not much point in doing this as Google doesn't like duplicated content either. It will choose one of the duplicates to show up in results, not all of them.

The best thing to do is re-edit the article so that it is different enough from the original and the duplicate warning will disappear.
