You will unlikely get a copy of word on a new PC. You are more likely to get MS Works.
Just about all new PCs will come with Win7, unless it;s a custom build where there might be an additional charge.
The previous answer is correct as far as it goes. Windows 7 is installed and includes Microsoft Works, which in turn, includes Microsoft Works Word Processor. I really can't tell any difference between MS Word and this new version, other than the addition of the "task pane" on the right side. The task pane can be closed by opening the "view" dropdown menu and clicking on "task pane." That's a snippet screenshot of the new one.
