Depends on what you want to do with your device.
For reading and browsing, iPad is best.
For typing and more typically productivity tasks, a MacBook Air would be better.
Both are amazing products made by Apple, however the Macbook Air seems like the better choice, as the Ipad 2 is to much like a large iPhone to me. However then maybe if you're planning on purchasing one, you should go to your nearest Apple store, and trial them both to see which you prefer. Hope this helps!
I'm not against Apple products and I have an Ipod but my Lord Apple is just too costly to use unless you really want it. Otherwise I would not us a tablet for the simple reason I don't see the need for it. On the other hand a netbook or mini pc is just as good in my opinion.
The ipad 2 is far superior... consider purchasing the ipad 2 through verizon wireless and receive internet service anywhere verizon has service.
