What exactly is SOPA (stop online piracy act)?
And will it affect hubbers and internet users in general? Why is there so much backlash against it?
If passed, SOPA and PIPA can force websites offline if they find any content that infringes copyright, and if the website links to any other pages/sites that infringe copyright.
This applies to HubPages - SOPA / PIPA could easily force HubPages to shut down.
It could impact the internet/web in a huge way, and as with all such measures, it won't stop piracy.

I wouldn't suggest just going by this site... But a basic overview of it, is... That the big media companies asked the government for this plan because of people illegally getting free music. the plan is supposed to restrict sites like MEGAUPLOADS, and sites that you can get free music downloaded to your mp3 player, or ipod. The info you see about it ruining our internet are things getting blown out of proportion just like the world ending in december, or the world ending any other time. It could turn out for bad, but the form that was trying to get passed in washington in basic form was for good reasons ( unless you enjoy illegally stealing music/ movies) then you see it as bad.
