How has the world changed due to the advances of technology?

The world and how society lives has changed dramatically in the past 15 years.  Technology, not just computers and clouding but simple things such as wireless handsets for home, smart homes, construction materials/methods, have made great advancements.  Some of these advancements impact our lives on a daily basis.
In your opinion, what has had the greatest impact on society, or even on yourself?  Why?  How did it change life?

The more technology seems to advance, the less the general public uses their brains & bodies; go figure...

The world is connected now where by it wasn't as long ago as my teenage years. Watching sienfeld and other shows from the early 80's you come to realize the difference as scenarios like meeting up with friends is a snap.

Nobody gets lost and looks all over town for them- you just call them, you can even GPS them on certain phones and with four square and similar aps- (remember that scene where George Costanza is yelling for Jerry and Elaine in the theater? they miss one another by seconds- a simple call or text and all is resolved- no embarrassment or bs.

The world is also 500%+ more complex, complicated, and privacy? what's that anymore? Even if YOu were to lock yourself away from all technology- someone out there can tweet, fb, or post on a blog things about you, images, or remember that guy who shot his daughters laptop to make a point and put it on Youtube? That was a perfect example of other people causing kaos in your life with a simple post and video....

Society is starting to become one world order of a sort with worldwide concepts like facebook and connection services like chat rooms. Look at the movement of KONY 2012 (google it or youtube it)- this madman abducts children, makes them sex slaves or murders (forced to and brainwashed to become his army), and they are even tasked with murdering their parents- one man and a vision took this to congress and they said they wouldn't get involved, but with social media, a 30 minute documentary- and the entire world knows about him and all the way up to Obama, action is not being taken BECAUSE THE PEOPLE DEMANDED IT ONLINE MAINLY.

Well, technology has positive and negative impact on social, personal and professional life.  It has changed the way we live, we think, we see world problems. It goes as far as how we socialize in the world. Frankly, the advancement of technology has happened at very high cost to world.

I think the most detremental effect that technology is having on modern society is that Human Beings do not have to remember things like we used to. Mobile Phones, tablets, Sat Navs etc are devices that have made our lives easier, but mean that we do not have to use our brains to remember things or work things out like we would have had to say 10 years ago. I truly believe that in the future this is going to create a gulf in the intelligence levels of Humans. As we progress further in to a world where Technology 'helps' us in our daily lives.
