How do you increase the snippet Google takes for posts in Wordpress?
In search results, on google for example, the snippet or summary which appears under the post heading is only half a line or so for some of my Wordpress posts. Is there a way this can be altered?
You need to edit the meta description of your post, to include a snippet up to 153 characters describing your post. If this is mot edited, then the first characters from the post are taken instead, and cut off at 153 characters.
To easily access this part of the post, you need the All In One SEO pluginto be added, and you will see a new box beneath the post content window when you add or edit a post in Wordpress.
Hopethis makes sense - you cant make the description longer, but you can make it unique for each post and help readers to understand what your post is about in Google search results.
Yes that's right you have to enter in a Meta Description. Wordpress usually grabs the the first paragraph or so of your post unless you have a plugin where you can set your own Meta Description like - All In One SEO, Yoast SEO or Platinum SEO.
