What blogging platform do you use?

I use Wordpress and Blogger but am tired of Blogger and Wordpress.com does't allow ads or Amazon capsules (html). I can use Wix or Weebly but would like some more options.

I use Wordpress. I monitize by advertising my own products that I have on Amazon and on my personal website by using the widgets WP supplies.

Hi Dale, is that Wordpress.com or WP.org? I can't seem to find anything on Wordpress.com to monetize it with. They used to allow html but I can't even find that.

Cardisa, you aren't supposed to advertise affiliate links on Wordpress.com. I almost had my work removed because I missed that in the TOS. Wordpress.com appears to be for non-commerical use only. @Dale, what plug-in do you use, with what theme?

Thanks WannaB Writer. I suppose he is referring to the hosted domain and not the free blog.

Use wordpress hosted on your server. It's the one from wordpress.org

I can't figure out how to use that so I am looking for other options. I tried that with Godaddy and it was too complicated for me. I want something where I just type my content and everything is already there, like Blogger.

I use Wordpress hosted on Byethost.com, which is free. I used to pay for Yahoo web hosting, but Byethost has been working great for me, and it's free. It will even install Wordpress for you. You can use all the plugins you want, and place Amazon affiliate ads and Adsense ads easily on it.

Wordpress has countless plugins including amazon. You will have to have your own domain name and hosting. Haven't heard of Byethost but you can try as TN Sabrina suggests. You risk losing your site and content unexpectedly with free hosts though. I have sites on JustHost and IPage. They have simple site builders as well as Wordpress and other popular platforms.

Which Amazon plug-ins do you recommend? Do they work with any of the free themes?

I use Amazon auto links plug-in. I use free themes on my sites but my sites are my own domain. See makemoneyonhubpages.com

I use blogger and wordpress too. But my wordpress site is my own hosted on GVO. Alternately I also write on Squidoo. If you're looking for a free platform, there's weebly, yolasite, tumblr, and many more. Hope that helps! ^_^

Thanks, I don't like Tublr but I have a site with Yola, Weebly and Wix. decided against the blog since I already have a domain. I found a site that allows free domain pointing on the free account. It's called Eznow.

I have Wordpress.org blogs hosted on both Godaddy and Blue Host. It wasn't that difficult to install it on either. You just go to the control panel and install it. Tech support will walk you through it on the phone either place if you have a problem. Although I use the same theme, Magazine Basic, on both, it seems to work better for me on Godaddy.

I also have a Blogger blog, but I don't much like it, even though it's free. My images never seem to wind up in the same place in the preview that they do in edit, and it's almost impossible to get them there without knowing how to code. Since I don't know how, I don't know if even that would make a difference. I see Blogger changed their interface, but I haven't had time to play with it yet.

I agree that having a free host leaves you less security. I prefer to own my own site. That way I have complete control over my content as long as I follow the TOS basic to Google and most hosts to keep it clean and free of forbidden topics like hate.

Thanks WannaB Writer. I do have a Godaddy account and I did upload Worpress at one point. Maybe I'll try again.

If you have your own domain, it's better to use WordPress otherwise blogger have an edge over WordPress. Using widgets and banner codes provided by Amazon are easier to use on blogger.

You are telling me what I already know. I need more options please. There must be other blogging platforms out there.
