I have an HP PSC 1410v All-in-One inkjet printer which uses HP21 black ink cartridges. They don't last very long and are expensive to buy. I have been told the HP56 black ink cartridge holds almost 3 times the amount of ink and is the exact same dimensions as the HP21. If I replace my HP21 cartridge with a HP56 cartridge, will it work right? I can't get an answer from HP and I hate to spend the money only to find out the HP56 won't work in my printer. Please help!
I hope your question has been answered already, but just in case it hasn't, the 56 is physically identical, but the little sensors on the back are in a different configuration, so it won't work
Brendan,
No, my question has not been answered yet. Thanks for the reply. Now I know not to waste my money on the HP56 ink cartridge.

I was facing a similar issue associated with cartridge on my epson printer as well, I was having errors while printing multiple pages, however, I have figured out it to be an Epson Error Code 0x97 which was causing the issue.
In general you can't "cross cartridge" on HP Ink Jet printers. However places like Office Depot/Office Max offer generic branded cartridges at a discount. You may also find that you can get an HP21 "eXtra" which has a lot more ink in it.
