Chicago IS Oprah Winfrey!

Do Chicago - "OPRAH" Style! Is There Any Other Way... Really?
Do Chicago - "OPRAH" Style! Is There Any Other Way... Really?

Lets just face it - sorry Chicago, but when 'I' hear the word Chicago - Not only do I THINK OPRAH WINFREY... I then realize that I am not thinking about CHICAGO!

Chicago is synonymous with Oprah and EVERYTHING we immmediately think about when hearing the word - CHICAGO - seems to do with OPRAH WINFREY!

Chicago, Illinois - must worship the Ms. O - which is how Oprah Winfrey is referred to, by the multitudes who consider her - beloved!

I am aware that although there are many 'things' that we could say about the windy city of Chicago, Illinois - nonetheless -- Chicago's number ONE asset.... and at the top of Chicago's own "Favorite Things" list has got to be...

Lets face it - Oprah ROCKS!

Therefore - Chicago Rocks... and the reality is - that it is NOT the other way around. Before Oprah.... Chicago's fame - was WIND! I personally don't care for wind... other than being a gal with naturally curly hair... wind is a natural straigtner - so TO BE WINDY, is really not that appealing - is it?

I can also think of another way to consider people who are a bit "windy"... And, it usually is not a positive! (smile)

If you are also a person, like myself, who can only - and maybe I am narrow - but ONLY think of Oprah - when thinking about Chicago - then if and when you get yourself to Chicago... you are definitely going to want to know the best way to experience the "Windy" City of Chicago - which again - is Oprah!

Oprah Chicago, Illinois - If You Want To Experience Oprah Chicago - This Takes Planning!

First - you need to know "How" to make sure you have the complete "Oprah Experience" when you get to Chicago - So "What" to DO when you visit "Oprah-Land is a must.

Second - How to make sure you actually GET to do Oprah, while in Chicago is an art in itself, from what I understand. I have a sister-in-law who lived a few years in Chicago - and to her great disappointment - was never able to make it to the famous Harpo Studios and see the Oprah Winfrey Show! Shocking but true!

Trust me - it wasn't because she didn't want to - it is because getting tickets to the Oprah Winfrey show is really hard. So, it is critical that if you are going to be in Chicago and "think" you are planning to see a taping of the Oprah Winfrey show - you better think FIRST and PLAN AHEAD - or else - all you will be doing in Chicago is eating PIZZA!

And there it is... Chicago Pizza! I also think of PIZZA when I think of OPRAH... I mean CHICAGO!

No, no, no!!! There is so much more to Chicago than just Oprah!!! I grew up near Chicago, and there is sooo much to do and see, aside from Oprah!! We have great museums (The Field Museum, The Art Institute), we have great food, free music festivals all throughout the summer, The Taste of Chicago, Navy Pier, and on and on...I agree. Oprah is great, but not the greatest thing about Chicago.

Chicago is one thing - Oprah is another.  Let's get one thing straight: Chicago helped make Oprah - not the reverse.

There is the reference to the Winfrey-Obama connection in this article.  If you've followed Oprah's career as carefully as I assume you have due to your admiration for her, you do know that her "popularity rating" dropped 18%, an all-time low for her popularity after stepping into the political spotlight with Obama.  Show biz and politics don't mix, and Oprah should have known that - but either she didn't care, or she can't do anything about it now. What's done is done.

Also, someone referred to the medical field as discussed on Oprah's show.  The highly respected Dr. Dean Edell, America's first and still foremost Broadcasting Doctor repeatedly says that medical information given on Oprah's show is deadly!  He says that she has had more 'book writers' of serious medical concerns talking on her show than she has qualified doctors - and that people, mostly women, listen to the show and follow the book writers' advice rather than getting medical advice.  Dr. Dean Edell details the medical misinformation given out on Oprah's show on his own radio show when the topic comes up with callers.  It's frightening!

Last time I put on Oprah's show as I was scanning the TV channels with my remote, she had Beyonce on.  That's the type of guest Oprah should be interviewing - entertainers - not politicians she's gone overboard about and definitely not fly-by-night medical book writers who have no medical training and background.

I say: Love Oprah if you want - but be realistic with your idolization.  After all, we can only assume that she puts her panty hose on one leg at a time - just like any woman.

I watched on 11/11/08 about the lady that may have a pituatary gland problem. I had a pituatary gland tumor removed in 1978 and I have a few side effects from it even today. Dr. Oz did make the surgery sound a little too simple. That's brain surgery! Other symptons may also include extreme fatigue, lactating breasts, lack of periods and poor appetite but it depends where the tumor is located. If gone unchecked and it is located near the optive nerves, a person could go blind if they don't have the surgery. This is serious. I had the type of surgery where they enter my nasil cavity to get to the front of my brain and I was in surgery for a few hours and in the hospital for 22 days. I'll be glad to share my experience and information. My e-mail is

      Hi Paulie -

Chicago is the place of choice for the queen of talk shows, so it must have many many merits, right? LOL

I trust that Chicago has much much to offer, no doubt about it. But you still must admit - when thinking of Chicago, Oprah naturally assumes quite a powerful position in our thoughts.

      Give it up!

I'm a Chicagoan, born and raised and I think Oprah is pretty lame actuyally. Hmmmmmmm 30 something white women from the Chi suburbs, Wisconsin and Iowans by the bus loads that flock to "Her" majesty's show for a free "Bed & Bath" Basket and to figure out what book to read this month. Just kidding, lol, but Chicago has so much more to offer than just her and the 3 times (last I checked) a day she's on TV here daily! Yep, I could fill this page with examples with Chicago accolades and then some, but I don't need to do that now do I? We all know that this place is a "World Class City!" "Chicago Is My Kinda Town!"
