We can find beautiful seas with a group of the largest coral reefs. There are millions of sea gulls with many species such as albatrosses, Cormorant, and Puffin. Another species are beaver and deer. Even the local people give a name to one of the islands known as Vestvågøya and another island is Flakstadøya (which means the foot of a wolf because the island is shaped like a wolf footprints). Now, the whole region is known as the Lofoten islands. Because of its unique climate, Lafoten was the center of the largest cod fishery for more than a thousand years ago. Lofoten is a very important fishing center, before becoming a popular tourist retreat. Thousands of tons of cod are hung to dry on wooden racks, we can see this attraction at the end of the spring.

Beautiful...............!

There’s something unique in Lofoten. This island consists of natural walls with a height of about 1100 meters. Mountains and cliffs on the north side Vestfjord protect the area. Lofoten is also famous for its beauty of sandy beach. We should be careful with Malstrøm which is known as tidal whirlpool in the west of Lofoten. Moskenstraumen is located between Lofotodden and Værøy. Its involves a strong current flowing between these islands and create whirlpools. Moskenstraumen is known as one of the world's strongest maelstroms. Whirlpool will provide you with an unforgettable experience. But generally the beaches at Lafoten are safe.

Lofoten island is the northern part of the world where the average temperature is above zero throughout the year. In January the average temperature is about -1.5. In the summer it has temperature about 13 C for 24 hours throughout the day. The hottest temperature ever recorded was 30.4 C. There are three local airports which each only serves more than 100 people each day.
