TOP TEN Most Embarrassing Places to Live - UK...

A small hamlet (POP. 130) nestled between Poole and Dorchester, England. Best known for it's name. The town sign was stolen so often that the citizens paid to erect a 1.5 ton slab of marble with the name 'Shitterton' proudly engraved on it.

It has not been stolen even once to date!

Scratchy Bottom, Dorset

Brokenwind, Aberdeenshire

Crapstone, Devon

Golden Balls, Oxon

Ugley, Essex

Crackpot, Yorkshire

Backside, Aberdeenshire

Great Snoring, Norfolk

TOP TEN Most Embarrassing Places to Live - USA...

Toad Suck, Arkansas

Toad Suck's name has it's noble roots in 19th century Arkansas - when steamboat crews would drop in to the local tavern and 'suck' on liquor until they swelled like 'toads'! (quote, unqote)

Its biggest claim to fame is a popular spring festival, Toad Suck Dazes (of course)

Climax, Georgia

Boring, Oregon

Hooker, Oklahoma

Assawoman, Virginia

Belchertown, Massachusetts

Roachtown, Illinois

Loveladies, New Jersey

Squabbletown, California

St. Louis de Ha! Ha!, Quebec

TOP TEN Most Embarrassing Places to Live Globally - and - In no particular order...

Fucking, Austria

This quaint village (POP. 104) is located just 3 miles east of the German border. Other than it's name, there's not much happening in Fucking. Other than the, ahem, obvious!

Pronounced Fooking, fyi!

Penistone, UK

Middlefart, Denmark

Dildo, Newfoundland, Canada

Crotch Crescent, UK

Intercourse, Pennsylvania USA

Lost, Scotland

Titty-Ho, UK

Hooker, Oklahoma USA

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogergychwyrndrobwilllantysiliogogogoch, Wales (Obviously holds the title for longest town name in the world -I cannot make this stuff up, folks!)

And finally - my personal favorite (drumroll, please...)..

KNOB LICK, Missouri USA

Nuff said - No visual required!

That's all I've got for you today, faithful followers.

@ ImKarn34, within a 15 mile stretch of road, in North Carolina: you can go through High Point, Archdale (unincorporated), Granola {unincorporated}, Sophia (unincorporated), Randleman & Asheboro! 'Unincorportated' townships, being what they are, are decent material to write a hub/blog on.

Hi Imkarn. I just checked you out after reading reference to you on Rolly Cabot hub, all thanks to Nell rose, quite a circuitous route but there you go. Rollys hub made me cry and this one of yours had me laughing my head off, seriously, 10 minutes on HP can do that to you. I am so glad I read this it really is my kind of humor. You missed one out though " wetwang" in East Yorkshire, when I saw the name plate for this village I almost wet myself laughing. I am so pleased to have found you, you really have given me a great start to the day LOL :)

@ ImKarn23 You have given me a great idea for a hub. Will work on it at the weekend while I'm off work.

I love the UK. You can have a laugh on a long journey just reading the road signs.

      What about rivers

      River Cocker

River Lune There are 2 of these. One in Lancaster and one in Durham

      Bottoms Beck

      Boggart Hole Brook

      River Brain
