I did a research for that questions and the answer is yes.

For $500 a month you can live in the bungallo on the beach, eat restaraunt food, attend yoga classes and drink freshly mady cocktails.

Sure, that is totally possible. There is a much cheaper standard of living there. There are a ton of "live overseas cheaply" web sites that you can check out. Get the 4hr Workweek book by Tim Ferris as well. He lives all over the world for almost nothing.

That is possible in that place because Thailand is not an expensive country. Of course it depends on your lifestyle.

In Thailand the cost of living is not so high.  Depending upon the lifestyle and level of the person, it may not quite easy to say.  Still for a person of an average lifestyle, the amount is sufficient.

well not unless you want to live like BORAT! i struggled on £1000 per month.Theres no point living there if your going to be broke all the time, its just not comfortable.Everything has got alot more expensive lately due to a strong thai baht.

$500 a month is probably not enough I live here and as mentioned  living a normal western lifestyle $1000 is still scraping by... you can live with $500 though few westerners arrive at doing so because with a budget this low your world as you know it will change to an extreme you can not imagine...

Forget what the poster mentioned about living on the beach restaurants yoga etc  that is just not true a lifestyle like that will cost a minimum of $10000
