When choosing a locale for your vacation, do you choose big city or roughing it? Mountains or ocean?

I would definitely choose a big city over roughing it and the ocean over mountains!

I try to do both you can visit Venice and enjoy the hustle and bustle of one of the world most romantic citys then be back on the beach on the Adriatic within 30 minutes and only a hours drive to the dolomite mountains A  little variation would be my choice.

Thanks for you replies! Personally I'd have a hard time choosing any of it. I think I'd enjoy the woods/mountains, but I also like to sunbathe.

Venice sounds wonderful and like it has it all -- beach and big city. Would love to go there someday myself.

all of the above! My adventures take me all over America. I can share possitive and negitive with almost every corner of the US, and even a few countries. Since new years, I have embarked on a solo road trip to California, ( I am centrally located in Kansas) , and a 5 day mountain adventure with my Husband. Our next adventure will be a road trip to central Florida! also planned for this year is several trips camping in Colorado, a visit to Roswell, NM. a second trip to Florida with my grandson, and I am sure we will be able to anjoy more!

I like roughing it out. I'd choose a forest over mountains or oceans. I like big cities if they have rich history and architecture. Like Rome for example was fantastic!

It depends on where you are going...I like to explore and see lots of different sites there are very interesting things to do in big cities, but it is also enjoyable to be out in the middle of nowhere in nature.  The world is a big great place and there are lots of things to experience so don't limit yourself to just one environment.
