Where would you like to go to travel if you were over 60yrs old?
After seeing that movie The Most Exotic Marigold Hotel I wondered what other people would do for a holiday.
My grandmother loves to go on bus tours around Europe and cruises. She's not able to walk for long periods of time, so these trips are just perfect for her. Her most recent were a bus tour of Italy and a cruise around the Caribbean.
I would like to go on more exotic trips after 60, though!
I would love to travel anywhere even after 60 years of age, provided that it's not a "roughing it" vacation. A comfortable, clean bed, hot shower and internet are a must for me, no matter where I travel. I hope to visit Italy and Greece next year, and go back to Ireland. Thailand is also on my list of "hope to visit" places. I'm not 60 yet (52) but I plan to continue travelling as long as health permits.
By the way, getting good travellers insurance is a good idea...just in case.
I would love to go on a luxury cruise around the world for at least six months. It would be interesting to visit new places and to experience cruise life for that long. I have been on shorter cruises and have met some elderly passengers who were cruising for months and they seemed to enjoy the experience.
Being that my wife has always wanted to be an archaelogist, and the subject interests me as well, I would love to go "investigate" some ruins. Perhaps we could check out Mayan and Incan Ruins, and I especially would love to see Stone Henge. Machu Pichu, and Niagara Falls are other places on my list. My wife wants to visit Greece and check out the colliseum and all their ruins. Seeing it on TV or seeing picture on the internet almost never do it justice than actually being there.
My wife and I (both over 60) dream of driving an RV across the US, starting from Washington DC and ending in San Fransisco. Along the way we would take in Nashville (we are Dolly Parton fans!), New Orleans, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, LA and the long drive up the Big Sur (almost managed that on our honeymoon, but a slipped disk meant that my wife had to go into hospital instead).
I just hope we can do this before either of us is too old to be allowed to rent an RV!
