   I have very fond memories of Camp Au Sable in Grayling, Michigan.  I attended a woman's retreat there and stayed in the Forest Lodge.  The cozy interior, so beautiful and serene was so appealing.  A gift basket of attractive keepsakes.  For me?  Added to that, my window opened up to a view of the largest man-made lake in the state. It was like being in another world.  Enjoyable and Unforgettable!

      Sounds wonderful MsDora, I feel excited to see how many different and delicious places this question may reveal.  I love travel.  I stayed at a Backbackers which was an old jail in New Zealand, fancy a double bed in a cell!   Most memorable!

   I have had the privilege to stay at many fine and beautiful hotels, but without a doubt, my all time favorite is the Morrison House in Alexandria, Virginia. http://www.morrisonhouse.com/hotel-news … views.html  The accommodations are exquisite and the attention to personal detail is bar none. One floor is the dedicated pet friendly floor. While traveling with our 2 dogs, they were greeted with their own beds and room service of doggie treats. Every staff member knew their names and when the elevator doors opened in the morning we were greeted with, "Good morning Dexter. Hello Jasmine. Oh, good morning Mr. and Mrs. Page." It doesn't get much better than that.

      Hi pagesvoice, I checked out the link, it looks like an amazing place to stay.  Service and friendliness can make or break a holiday experience.  So nice to know you had both.   Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us.

      I see you live in the Norfolk area which isn't that far away. Old Town in Alexandria is such a wonderful and historic place to visit and shop. We simply love it there.
