Who has great recommendations for TX vacation?

Vacation to TX, want to visit San Antonio, Austin and the ocean. Do you recommend Galveston, Corpus Cristi or somewhere else? Want to have some great TX beef, like steak or BBQ. And any good aquariums/zoos? Would also like to see/do some Western Swing somewhere. Suggestions???

I have been to Texas several times.  San Antonio has a Riverwalk, a zoo and an aquarium.  I haven't personally been to Galveston, but I hear it's beautiful.  I have heard of Moody Gardens Aquarium in Galveston.  I mostly stayed around the Houston area the several times I went.

I lived in Texas most of my life and grew up near Galveston. I would recommend going further south for the beach, as Galveston's water is quite dirty. Corpus would be best. If you're in the Houston area you can also stop by Kemah boardwalk, which is on the coast.

San Antonio for sure. There is a great Sea World in San Antonio and a nature preserve not far outside the city as well (the last time I went, we got to see a natural antelope birth in the wild!). There are some little spots around San Antonio that are wonderful, such as Gruene and New Braunfels.

Austin is worth a stop too, has a great nightlife and music scene. Lots of incredible food stops here, too many to name!

Galveston is not a beach. You have to put lotion on so there isn't oil all over you. Forget it! There are plenty of Western places to go in any city you choose to visit. But you probably should visit the rodeo. I've lived in the Houston area for eight years and regret that I haven't been. San Antonio is one of the best places I've been in Texas. The museums in Houston are fantastic.

Cool! Do they have good rodeos in San Antonio? I don't need a big beach/party scene, I just want to see the ocean and maybe swim in it before I go home. I need my ocean fix! Can you get in the Gulf in November..?

Most rodeos are in the spring. The water will be a bit cold, but it's possible. One of the coldest rivers ever is in Texas. Really popular during the summer. But it's freezing all year round!!!
