Have you ever found an abandoned animal?
Have you ever come across a stray animal? What did you do about it? I found a kitten and took care of her for a week until I could find her a home. There's a picture of her, I named her Komet. Tell me your story!
Yes, and I have a beautiful black cat named Sheba who I resued 5 years ago from a lane... She is now very spoilt and happy!
Here is a vid:

Wow Sheba is very pretty, and that was very kind of you. I also have a video of Komet so you can check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpKlQx1ZaHA
Hello Smart is Good! And so is having a big heart...which I am convinced you do because you took the time and cared enough to save Komet.
Yes, MY friend, I have found dozens and dozens of abandoned animals over the years; literally hundreds. We make every possible effort to save each and every one. Currently, we have an animal sanctuary in SE Kansas where all our rescued cats and dogs live...very comfortably and with lots of love and all the necessary and essential things to make their lives wonderful. I could never look away or walk away or 'look the other way'..no, never. When an innocent life is in danger; when I see suffering or potential harm or injury, I am compelled to step in and 'fix it.' This is an excellent question and I am sure your query will help others to understand just how important it is to be caregivers, nurturers and kind to others. Thank you!
We rescued a kitten about 3 years ago, the neighborhood kids were running around with her.
She was in pretty bad shape when we found her, we took her to the vet to have her treated for fleas and found out that she had multiple perferations in her intestines.
She was only with us for about 6 months, but we loved her while she was here.
I am reminded of two tiny black cats I rescued four years ago. I was driving at night and saw a black cat beside the dark country roadside. I stopped and managed to get the cat to come near me. Just as I was about to try to pick the cat up, a small dark form darted past us. Turns out that there were two cats.
I managed to get the first cat into the car, but the second one escaped my grasp and ran into the woods. It's impossible to find a black cat in the dark, so I finished my journey and brought back a can of cat food to the place where I was sure the second cat was still hiding. The second cat never showed and I was worried about this little one all night long. I was sure that this cat was frightened being out there all alone. I imagined all sorts of things that could happen to her and I prayed that she would be safe until morning.
The next day, I went back, armed with more cat food and a carrier. I called for the little cat, but got no answer. Then, a thought struck me. I started meowing, hoping the little cat would take me for her missing friend. Sure enough, I heard a tiny faint "meow" in response. I continued meowing and following the response until I could see the little cat perched on a rock. I opened the cat food and waited. Soon, hunger overcame fear, and as the little cat ate I was able to catch her.
Back at my house, I could see that these cats had just been abandoned, for they were too clean to have been in the woods for long. Purr-Box, the first cat I caught, lived with us for four years and died in January of 2011. EP, the tiny second cat, has undergone her own share of medical issues, including one where we thought we would have to amputate her back leg. But she recovered and still lives with us today.
I am glad that I was able to save these cats and give them a much better life than they would have had out in the wild.
I've found lots of abandoned animals. I also volunteer at my local cat shelter every Friday. It's sad that people abandon their animals.

Have you ever had a wild animal just come right up to you and what did you do when it did?It doesn't have to be a big bad ferocious animal. It could be a raccoon, squirrel, deer, even a bird. It's funny because after working at a dude ranch and seeing the extraordinary range of reactions to...

Has anyone ever told you that your beloved pet was the ugliest animal they ever saw?We love our furry children just like human ones so when someone insults us about them, what do you do?

Did you ever have a pet that long after it's gone you were never able to forget? I had my dog Brandy, A Belgium Shepard for 10 years. He was the most incredible animal. We came to a sad ending due to the break up of my marriage, after moving to a different state.

I rescued an about 5 month old cat last year, she's never been overly friendly with us or our...kids. We care for her and have treated her with respect, giving her her space and she's been fine. Just recently we got a kitten because our children are younger and want a pet they can actually handle....
