   Is it normal for cats to make a flying leap into a refrigerator as soon as the door is opened?
   
   We have had several cats that could be in the room on the other side of the house, apparently oblivious to everything else, yet the moment one of the family opens the fridge door they come running into the kitchen and attempt to make a flying leap into the fridge. Sometimes they have so unwisely used their powers of stealth, they've almost got their heads stuck in as the door shuts. Has anyone else had cats that do this?

   Not sure if many things can be classed as 'normal' with cats! They all have such unique and often amusing characteristics. My cat has her own funny ways, like insisting on drinking water from the bath tap instead of a bowl. She sits by the tap for ages waiting for someone to notice and turn it on! As a kitten she enjoyed jumping on the lid of laptops when I was using them, forcing them closed and almost catching my fingers.
   
   Your fridge obsessed cats sound very amusing, it is possible they know where their food comes from if you have ever fed them from the fridge.
   
   Just hope none of them ever get stuck in there!

      She is very funny, sits on my bed at night and stares at the cupboard where I keep her treats. It's a nightly routine, and she doesn't leave me alone until she's had them lol

   When I was younger, our cat did that. I think it was more because she knew there was food in there for her than anything else.
   
   Our current cat doesn't bother with the fridge. He knows that if my mom and stepdad are in the kitchen, he can whine until they give him something.
   
   Do you feed your cats people food? It could be they're looking for it. xD

      Meisjunk, no we don't. They are strictly tuna and cat food cats. Of course, they have probably watched where we store the opened tuna cans!

   I cannot answer that since I do not know about cats but at least you can grab a cat. I have fruit flies that end up in mine and I cannot grab them! I will trade you.

   I've never had one take a flying leap into the fridge, but if they were in the kitchen when I opened the door, every cat I've ever had would stick their head in it. But then again, they did the same thing any time I opened any cupboard or closet. My guess is that with mine, it was curiosity about what's in there since I keep them out.
