Unemployment Lower than National Average
The official Unemployment Rate throughout the State of Texas was found to be consistently lower than the nationwide average before, during, and after the Recession of 2008 - 2010. By 2017, the Arlington Corridor produced increasing numbers of new jobs.
While an alarm went up in the media that national unemployment was 9.5% in June '09, Texas created an overall average of 7.5% for the same month. By March 2017, the rate was down to 4.3%. Low Unemployment Rates mean that the state does not have enough job seekers for the jobs available.
The corridor bounded by the Dallas western suburbs Arlington, Irving, and Plano in the Dallas - Fort Worth Area is interesting in that these three cities
- Rank high in job listings found by Indeed.com and SimplyHired.com across Internet sites; and these cities
- Show job listing increases 2005 - 2017 overall and more markedly since January 2009.
