    What are widgets?

What a ridiculous answer I received to this question:

Why do only boring instructional and "how to" hubs get higher scores and the one's that are insighful and deep like mine get a low score?

    fibo777 says
A lot of text, a lot of widgets and a lot of likes increases your hubscore. It does not matter what niche your hub is in.
    Hope that helped.

So blah, blah, blah, blah (just more text and mindlessly writing) gets a higher score. HOW STUPID!!! How about CONTENT AND DEPTH OF THE HUB?

    Hi Dan...

I will be honest and say I was hesitant to answer your question because you don't seem too kind to answers you don't want to hear...but what the hell...

I have noticed that scores rise (randomly for no apparent reason) and due to lots of traffic.  People read your material, comment, vote, and interact with you and a steady rise will be noticed in your scores.

It is important to realize, however, that this is a community of MANY excellent writers and with so many options to read here and elsewhere...you need to draw in your readership.  Let those readers enjoy your material and let them decide if your stuff is "insightful and deep" ...if it is...they will tell others and you may begin to see movement in your scores.

Towards that end you may wish to peruse the work of other people...leave helpful comments and allow the relationship to progress naturally like any other.  Additionally, not for nothing...a little humility may go a long way as well.

    Good luck.

PS...I don't know what a widget is either, however, I like to rhyme it with Midget...but alas...poetry is not my thing.

    Humbled and humiliated response:
    k
    thx

Then I got this response to my response above from the "response police:"

Please fix these errors before continuing:
Your answer is too short. Please make it longer.

OK. blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Just like HubPages said: I need a lot of text. That should do it.

Some of my hubs start out with a low score, but then over time the score gets higher. I'm writing in a small niche I think which is online gaming. So the traffic seems to be a lot lower then say a "cooking" hub. I understanding the frustration when writing a hub though. I seen some hubs published with 3 small paragraphs and and I wrote a hub with video, instructions and etc, and it was flagged.

I could be the amount of time you been apart of hub pages so the editors are more critical of new publishers ? A lot of unknown variables with the system,m it would seem.
