I just got a big red page telling me that the site's security certificate had expired when I clicked on the monthly total for the HubPages Earnings Program on the accounts page.
XP and Chrome.
We're already working on getting that renewed, Will Apse! Thanks for bringing this up.
The certificate expired around 4pm PST. Our new certificate should be issued within the next hour. Note that these are indications that a website is who it says it is, your account information is still encrypted and secure during this gap.
Over and Above this 'oversight' - there IS a problem with Site Security - equally important that makes accessing confidential account information non advisable Until Fixed...
I have already advised you guys that for over One Month I have been receiving notice that your Sign In page is NOT Secure as it contains both encrypted and unencrypted content!
That's a relatively easy fix isn't it?
Do you have a Bug or are you actually supporting the collection of our passwords etc by an unknown and undeclared 3rd Party?
I get a similar notice too, whenever I go to log in with Internet Explorer. It says "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? This webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire webpage."
Whoa! This security warning was still showing when I tried to log in. It was scary.
I just received the same notice when I just signed in. If visitors trying to access Hubpages are seeing this when they try to visit any page at HP, it might deter them from continuing. I know it would me from a site I did not know.
Now could you please fix the traffic stats, which is showing negative values in the 'sources' and which hopefully is the cause of many people complaining that their traffic has been halved!!!
Mine was halved a couple of hours ago and stats page lit up with blue arrows like a Christmas tree all at once. About the time I saw the expired certificate page when I signed in. Hope this doesn't end up causing a huge negative effect.
+ 7
Other than minus traffic from HP
All my sub-domain traffic, Google UK, Canada, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore and Yahoo search - All minus..
Though I believe our traffic drops also relate to the removal of our Tags.... I thought Security Certs could be paid for and extended at any time Prior To Expiry??
Traffic at an all time low! Not even 10% of my normal traffic!
My views have been showing the same number for almost 24hrs now and when I checked the traffic sources most of them are in the minus. Something is obviously wrong.
Me, too. Same number for nearly 24 hours, even though it says it's updating every now and then.
I don't see any negative numbers, though.
On the bright side, the number of impressions under earnings, the actual earnings and analytics all say a different story.
Can I ask how did this happen?
If I was a new visitor to the site and saw that message I would not return to it.
Is renewal like one of us forgetting to renew the household insurance? But then surely it cannot be as I get reminders about that weeks in advance and take action on it. Or is it about proving something to some authority to be issued with a certificate?
What I suppose I am asking is this - we often cannot help but be hit by Google's changes but was this not avoidable?
My traffic fell overnight by about 400 views. I think that I will have no way of knowing the true effect of this at least for a couple of days. I will look at my stats. in Google to see if I can glean any more info on what happened.
I agree with 2uesday, why was this allowed to happen? Just as why was the 4 hour outage allowed to happen a few months ago. This is not rocket science when running a website, and with one as big as this where so many people rely on income from it, I feel it is a really poor show from the top management at Hubpages. If this had happened at my old workplace somebody would have been given a serious talking to and with the outage a full scale investigation would have taken place as to how that could have happened. Not impressed with this apparently lackadaisical attitude from Hubpages.
Great minds... you beat me to that...
Does that mean its content is now of little importance and now irrelevant?
Or - does it mean that there are more appropriate places for it.... you know... like down in the bowels of the pond?
'unstickied' I like the word it reminds me of kids with glue pots.
"Can I be unstickied now, please ?"
...lol. It reminds me of Post-it notes. Probably because I've spent too much time working in an office.
That's exactly how I see them too. Post it notes.
There are Too Many REAL Issues in this thread (still unanswered) to be Ignored or merely allowed to sink into the sludge at the bottom of the pond.... where small problems fester into bigger problems and unexplained concerns negatively impact on the lives of those who take their positive contribution to the world.... seriously!

Okay - It seems there was an update to the definition of our earnings. I cannot say when it occurred.Basically we are paid for pageviews. One payment per view of article, regardless of how many ads are delivered to the reader, unless they back out before the first ad is actually viewed. Then we...

When I just tried to go to the Hubpages site (whilst logged out) I got a big warning box stating something about this site's security certificate and recommending I didn't enter the site and stating it could be another site imitating the site I actually wanted. I had to override the warning to get...

A while ago, after some Google change, HubPages offered the chance to let us choose whether to show our unfeatured hubs on the profile page. The reasoning was to keep Google from seeing any hubs Google didn't like, so that it would see the entire subdomain as high quality.I decided to not put...

Moments ago, we rolled out a change to the "author center" section of your Hubs (the black box at the top of each of your Hubs that only you can see) where you can see your Hub's traffic graph, and traffic by Day, Week, Month, and Total. The new tab, eBay, will share information about any...
