    Hello friends,

I am unable to access hubpages.com from home or workplace. I don't know what has happened. I am currently writing this comment using a proxy server. It has been two days now and I am really fed of this. I don't know what to do. I have sent an email to HP regarding this.

Please let me know if anyone else is facing the same problem as I am.

      Helo
Problem is with the ISP concerned.  I have contacted the ISP and told them about the problem.  They have checked it and corrected the problem.  Now I can access the hubpages website.

The reason I asked this is because not long after seeing Soni's post a facebook friend asked this very question when she could not access hubpages.com

Is HP barring ips in India selectively following ryankett's advice (he seemed to be very upset about hubbers from non native-english speaking countries, particularly India, in his forum posts)?

While I don't recall Ryan specifically advising that, he has made a lot of suggestions, and while I don't speak on his behalf I'm pretty sure he'd say that HubPages haven't listened to any of them big_smile

Personally I think HP would do well to stop ALL new sign-ups, while they sort through the current content and apply their new quality criteria.

And if they ever did something as drastic as singled out and block entire countries, I'd certainly hope that they would still allow current members from those countries to continue using the site and benefiting from it, just as the site would have benefited from their articles up until that point of time.

That does not encourage true growth either and would still not be the best solution to any panda or misuse of this platform as rightly perceived. smile

You would hope so - but it has been done before.  Helium blocked India and the Phillipines, and allowed only a very few to keep their membership going.

@soni2006, Network breakdown with a few Internet service providers and the virtual worlds here and there, I think it got to do with your local ISP. Just this morning Blogger went down, no access to login and dashboard but the are currently fixing it. Wait for some time...smile

It's the ISP that's the culprit. I'm using another ISP right now and......no problems.
Soni - I'm in Pune but the common factor seems to be Airtel.

I was informed that BSNL also was fine. May be we have to raise this question with the ISPs that why they were blocking certain sites?

Okay friends, after a trouble for 2 to 3 days, I am finally able to access hubpages.com via Spectranet and I hope so Airtel will also be working fine. Thank you so much to HP and to all hubbers for their kindness and support.

I guess this is because they're filtering sites based on malicious scripts. I found airtel/Vodafone filtering few sites. HP Ad program runs some annoying/malicious ads so it could be the reason behind this issue.

As for anyone suggesting blocking entire country IP, yeah that theory is good. Block it and US traffic will rise for sure. big_smile
