Was there a person or experience in your life that got you into writing? Or was it always a passion?

I started writing because I needed an escape route of my life I was living. I wanted to heal and didn't know how to so writing became an obsession. It helped me through the rougest times in my life. Where now I kinda became good at it. I see my past as a learning experience that lead me to my purposed life. I do not regret the life I lived and would do it again if it meant bringing me to writing. Thanks for asking this great question.

My grandfather was a playwright and died when i was 5 years old...My father never encouraged me to write or my mother...yet my favorite pastime as a kid was telling stories and escaping into my own make believe world. A world where I was in control and safe....
For years, I would watch others and make up stories in my head about them, but never wrote them down. I had no mentor growing up in Ireland.
I often wonder if someone had taken an interest in me earlier what might have happened.

Then about 12 years ago, I was in a minor auto accident, (working too much) so i decided to take about 5 weeks of. During that time, I thought about my grandfather and his plays...long story short I just decided to write and write anything, nothing, and everything. It was so easy because it was a natural gift...you either have it or you don’t :0)

Like most writers, I wrote about my past and once that was healed and dealt with, I began to write in the present. I can honestly say I am not influenced by any other writer, while I admire many of them. All my work is my own...besides the world does not need another Dickens, Tom Clancy, or Joyce it needs an original you and me!
    Thanks for asking the question
    Mike :0)

bellawritter23, thanks for responding smile I have to admit, I started writing for pretty much the same reasons. I am glad to see that it helps you smile It is great that you are so enthusiastic about writing.
mikeq107, thank you for answering! That was very interesting, I can definitely relate to making up stories about random people you come across in your life. I am always making up stories smile I really liked that you said the world didn't need another Dickens or Clancy and that is needs an original 'you and me'. I completely agree! Everyone is so unique and has experiences and thought processes that should never be interrupted with trying to mimic a past famous author. We are all talented in our own ways and we should take advantage of that smile

No experience or person influenced me to start writing. It all began with my personal blog, I needed it to get away from being a mama all the time. My blog has been a place where I could share my thoughts in a cyber world, thoughts that were not related to raising children. Although it started as a typical mama blog it soon became apparent to me that my writing was very important to me, as a person. When I play with words, it has a healing and uplifting effect on me. I like to focus on many topics, some of them may touch on parenting but usually they are thought out from a global perspective. Then, I like books and art, thus I enjoy writing on that, too.
