Absolutly. Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Now, what do you see? You may see something that you don't like. Others may never even notice, the thing that you don't like. They see you as you are, and not as you want to be.
Everyone has a different opinion of beauty. Some will think that the dullest looking person on earth, literally, is beautiful. While others think that a fair skin, and no marks or blemishes is the mark of beauty. It truly is in the eyes of the beholder, as to the meaning of beauty.
Yes, beauty comes from head and heart and not just from physical appearance.
shirleybill, great answer. Thank you both for answering.
I used to think so...now I don't know...I mean its a complicated question but the best answer that I could give you is that beauty is VERY subjective....so i doubt that anyone could ever be beautiful in everyone's eyes.
that depends on the kind of person one has evolved into. If you are a person of pure heart and mind then definetly beauty lies in the eyes but it is not applicable to a common human beings living day todays life having greeds , lust , jealousy and other vices.
Celebrities with Beautiful Eyes In The World http://www.fungur.com/celebrities-beautiful-eyes-world/
I think beauty is seen different in any culture. For example, here in the US we like to be tan but in Asia people want to be white. In some part of Africa being "healthy" meant you are beautiful but here we are consider obese.
So, I would say yes because each one of us have different idea of beauty.
Even though there is the adage that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, there are general/societal definitions of what it means to be considered to be attractive/ beautiful/handsome. Such a person is deemed to be easy on the eyes. An attractive person is a person who "DRAWS" people TO him/her so to speak. Charlize Theron, Vanessa Williams, Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, and Terrence J. Howard are what most people deem to be beautiful/handsome.
By societal/general standards, such people win hands downs in the looks department. During an interview, the Australian actor, Grant Bowler has stated that he looked forward to working with Vanessa Williams in the series UGLY BETTY because she was considered attractive. Granted, Mr. Bowler is not bad looking himself. When one is judged by the majority to be beautiful/handsome, he/she does have advantages that plainer and more aesthetically challenged people do not.
NO ONE would dare to consider the abovementioned celebrities to be ugly by any stretch of the imagination because simply they are not! As there are those who are beautiful(of both genders), there are those who would be considered aethestically challenged i.e. plain, homely, and/or ugly by the general/majority consensus. Gabourey Sidibe and Madonna would not be considered attractive by any stretch of the imagination by anyone! One radio show host even bemoaned how Ms. Sidibe ever got into show business while another well-known actress told her to quit because of her looks so to speak.

How do you define "handsome" or "beautiful?"For example, I have had people tell me that someone is handsome and I look at them and think, "Huh?" They look very nice, sort of...but handsome? I don't think so. Apparently, beauty really is in the eye of the beholder? In...

Why is it said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? For example, why is it that one woman can find another man attractive for his personality but not seem to be too fussed over his physical appearance, and yet another woman will go crazy over his physique?

Do you think you are beautiful? Be honest.I just a question about a relationship between beautiful and not-so-beautiful. What is beauty anyway.. as Miss Piggy says:"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed...
