What do you believe that the afterlife, heaven, is really like? What IS heaven itself?

Hey Laura "if you ask me", your'd better be prepared for a lengthy answer, i mean it is a BIG question!lol....I like to see myself as a bit of a philosopher rather than religious, but i will see where my journey leads me as i'm starting to sway a certain way....Anyway i reckon there's a big clue that we're all missing, never mind evolution & fossils & all that stuff what about the fact that we age?....How many bodies have you had so far in your life look at your old photo's, & how many Cars have you had already, or what about how many faces have you had?....So i'm leaning towards our body being just transport for our soul, to enable us to get to the bar etc!lol....I mean there is a lobster that every time it's cells renew they renew the same age, whereas our cells when they renew they stay what ever age they was....Also there's the Wood Frog that freezes to death every winter, & when the spring comes it thaws out & comes "back" to life....Now why is that?, i say there intentional clues for us....That when we die we don't die only our body dies, & we just carry on but slightly different again....Maybe Heaven is an actual place where we are real people, where we can have or do anything we wish to do....Maybe that's where we've just come from "again", & maybe we got a bit too carried away up there....Maybe we've have been sent down here, to remind us how to behave before we're allowed back in!lol....Iv'e never been a fan of the concept of reincarnation, as i'm pretty sure i am an eternal being....Hasn't any one ever considered that we could have actually been born in Heaven?, & this reality isn't real, but more of a schooling/learning experience?.

Wow! No, I never considered this life to be an educational experience before returning to heaven—awesome concept! Please, write a hub on your beliefs as you bring a fresh perspective that will resonate with many people! (And I love long answers!)

You are SO right! We're all guilty of repeating some mistakes, but the more we can learn from each one the better/richer our lives are! You are a wise person, Dave! Thanks for sharing!

Heaven will be like the illusion you perceive it to be or like the one described in religious books. The Afterlife is a different matter and may also be whatever you want it to be based on your beliefs.

The afterlife to me will be Pure Energy. Awareness without the senses that we rely on as physical beings. In such a realm the major influencing factors will be Magnetism, Electricity, and Gravity. Train yourself to avoid the light least you become trapped in Hell(surface of the Sun) once you get there.

A very interesting question of both introspection and contemplation. I am answering this question to have it notated where I can see it as a possibility for a hub idea of inspiration.

A quick notation is the root word's meaning lead to heaven simply being 'sky' with myth and ancient lore before it was known the world was both not flat nor the center of the universe. It has a symbolic nature within practices and religions as the source of beings of greater than usually inferring earthly beings. There are connotations of variety and mix.

For example to go to heaven could mean being with beings of greater than in a higher place above the 'here' and now. A literal example is I am a NHRA drag racing enthusiast. Beings greater than are the car owners and sponsors, professional tuners, and drivers of the vehicles, yet I feel equal to the crew members.

The place higher than 'here' and  now would be in Las Vegas between Mar. 28th - 30th where higher is greater than. The 28th is greater than today being the 22nd. A narrow window said with a giggle + giggle. And, there would be a cost of least a ticket for the event, free time, travel, and residence even if sleeping in my car in the middle of the desert, in which case I would not be in heaven. I would be in the outer regions.

That offers the question of expanding thought with introspection and contemplation being is heaven transitory (dynamic) or stagnant (not changing).

The event does occur in the future and obviously would occur after this life 'now.' It is both a subjective observation (of myself) and can be verified objectively with a survey of the tens of thousands in attendance over those future dates and the millions having attended such an event in the past.

Trust is exercised the event will occur based on historical evidence. I have faith it will occur because for some odd reason tomorrow is consistently arriving becoming today. Even if by a miracle I do attend, then most certainly I would be attending the event on a today.

Thank you Laura. I hope as time allows to ponder closer. I just do not have perspective of approach with that as a topic today. Tomorrow does offer hope discovery occurs. We'll see then. smile

I do not believe in afterlife. Heaven, or hell for that matter, hold no special meaning for me. That being said the concept of heaven and hell has inspired many artists to produce  some beautiful stuff with their idea/image of either one.
