What causes some parents teach their children to be followers and slaves instead of being leaders,
creative innovators, and owners of their destiny?
Hi Grace. It's a very interesting question that you have raised here.
I am glad to say, that the question has inspired the creation of a hub located at the following URL.

I am glad, that I got an opportunity to share my perspective on this topic.
Thanks again! [Smiles]
Read your illustrious hub, you have made some excellent points. To many people, it is SAFER to be followers than to be leaders. Many people inculcated in the slave mentality teach their children according to their particular life/philosophical purview.
This may sound crass but I am going to say it anyway. If we were all leaders then who would be our followers. There is a reason for everything. Some are brought up to be leaders and then they would rather just follow and then there are some that are brought up as followers, that later in life they become leaders. Just because some are brought up as one set of circumstances or beliefs does not alsway mean that are going to stay on that side of the fence.
I think it was Dave Ramsey who said the main job skills were showing up when you said you would and then doing what you were told to do for the money.
If you rebel against instructions and see them as a challenge, it is really hard to get a job.
Even self employed, if they say I'll pay $400 for a tile job that looks like this and you do something radically different, you won't get paid or referred to other people.
Teaching kids to do what they are told when it isn't immoral or dangerous is a life skill.

Why is it assumed that Morals are dictated by Religion? Doesn't that scare you?It is mentioned a lot that Morals are dictated by Religion, and the inference (or the direct statement occasionally) is that therefore Atheists are immoral. What makes people think this? I'm curious. Has anyone...

Is religion taught from birth a form of brainwashing? If you teach a child from birth a particular religion, is this not brainwashing? Would that child discover that religion on their own if it's something they weren't taught?
