What do you give the man who has everything?
The presidency of the most powerful country on earth!
Who can know what is truly in a man's heart.
However I suspect for Donald Trump the presidency has more to do with ego, legacy, and beating the odds while striving for a worthy goal. He never had the urge to run for mayor, state legislator, congressman, or U.S. senator.
Therefore we're left with two potential motives.
1. Ego (The desire to go down in history as a world leader)
2. A true "altruistic desire" to save his country.
Trump is a master at branding, selling, and marketing.
Those who truly believe he is going to round up 11 million undocumented people in the U.S. and deport them, build a 1000 mile wall and have (Mexico) pay for it, or bring back manufacturing jobs from China.... etc; They're going to be very disappointed!
There is no substance or real "how to" to any of his proposals.
"We're going to make America great again!" (Snake oil for sale!)
The difference between being the U.S. president and an entrepreneur is the president cannot fire congress for not going along with his plans. People who vote for Trump just want to try something different.
He have what it take to be a good governor of a state, but he doesn't have what it take to be a good President.
He needs support for his addiction to self glorification. It is this delusional thinking that led many crazy people to become leaders in the past resulting devastation in the world. Don't want to see that happening to US now.
Grace, I hope the question is not only for psychoanalysts and Americans, because I am not either - however, here is my "unprofessional" opinion.
I think Trump is pulling the leg of many people with his apparently arrogant, at times offensive behavior. Everything he does is calculated, not impulsive, not neurotic, or what else they have tried to pin on him. That guy sees exactly the historical moment when it's right to apply a muscle, and to say it the way that many people would like to say it.
He sees that American public is tired of white glove diplomatic crap full of political cliches that fail to deliver results. Being a master businessman, he views the economy and its ails through the prism of running a business. Any business would collapse overnight if conducted by a bunch of philosophizing politicians. Something big has to be done, not just reshuffling the old deck of cards with missing all aces and tens.
His policies aside, he realizes that the only way to convey his direct and radical approach is by also acting like a man who won't listen to any b.s. You just don't do it by being another "nice" guy. If you have a strong message, make it sound strong. Take risks of sounding crazy, but make your views recognizable. Half a century back I used to be an army drill sergeant, and trust me, you don't gain any respect by being a "nice guy".
Trump is anything but "neurotic", Even when he admits his personal ambitions to be a president, he is only saying something openly that other candidates are secretly praying for, and their ego is just as inflated in their ambition. If Trump ever admits or displays any "weakness" - it's because he wants to do it. He is playing the media like David Garrett is playing violin. He just can't say or do anything "wrong", because he is all in the open, allowing himself to be vulnerable to any attacks.
Those are not characteristics of a neurotic, but a smart man who knows what he wants. A neurotic is all about defence - this guy means business.
Do I think he would be a good president? I honestly don't know how to run a country, what is involved, what qualifies a person to be a leader. I have no education to assess a candidate's ability.
Do I like Donald Trump as a person? One simple - yes.
Nationalist, but not socialist. And nationalism is not the evil it is made out to be.

Will you move out of the United States if Donald Trump becomes president? Where would you go?

I have been confused as to exactly how to handle a Biden presidency. I consider him a babbling old fool who got rich selling out the United States and his vice president as a female who is a socialist/communist and had to sleep her way into a career. My opinion of both is extremely...

I am really curious about what other women think; because I've only recently started paying attention to politics since the media is ramping up Trump so much, lately. Before that, I'm sorry... I was not even SORT of paying attention to any other candidate from any party. Hillary is my girl, and she...

Despite all the socio-political questions hanging about, how would you picture former president Donald Trump, as a potential candidate in the 2024 piesidentialrace? Can he make it again? Will the GOP give him a second chance?

How Do You Think Donald Trump Will Exit The Presidential Race?I have to wonder with Donald Trump slipping in the polls, if he is going to stay in the race for the Republican nomination to run for President? Not sure if his ego will allow him to be in 2nd place and eventually lose. If he...
